Former Director of Roads, Mosese Nailumu has accepted a voluntary redundancy package and resigned from the civil service following his demotion by the Public Service Commission.

Permanent Secretary for Public Service, Taina Tagicakibau confirms that Nailumu accepted the voluntary redundancy package knowing that his talent as an engineer would go to waste if he was posted to another position.

Following disciplinary action taken against Nailumu based on incriminating evidence against him for abuse of office, he was posted to the PSC temporarily prior to seeking a permanent transfer elsewhere.

Tagicakibau said Nailumu made the right choice noting that the deal would mean the PSC would retain more than $100 000 in salary and benefits for him and therefore it was a more economical option that Nailumu has taken. The deal sees Nailumu receiving a paid year's portion of his salary.
