Fiji's long distance runner Isireli Naikelekelevesi will have to work hard to win his favourite 800 and 1500 metres events in this year's Pacific Games.

Naikelekelevesi was beaten in the 800 metres final in the Oceania Grand Prix meet in Australia yesterday. He finished his race in a time of 1.51.73 seconds while Samoa's Aunese Curreen won that race in a time of 1.50.59 seconds.

Team Fiji athletes will have to be on their toes as athletes from Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Vanuatu have provided good challenge in the last three days in Australia.

In other results Niko Verekauta won the 200 metres heats in a time of 21-30 seconds and will feature in the final while Jovesa Naivalu came first in the mens 110 metres Hurdles heat.

The Oceania Grand Prix ends tonight.
