Coca Cola games 1500 metres champion Mereseini Naidau is hoping to stamp her mark again this year after winning her first event in the Lautoka Zone earlier this morning.

Naidau won the 0pen girls 1500 metres with a time of 5 minutes 26 seconds and she looks good to spearhead Jasper Williams High School’s efforts to retain their zone title.

If Naidau wins gold again in the 1500 metres in the upcoming Coca Cola Games, she will create history by being the first athlete in the history of the games to win 4 gold medals in a row in an event.

Meanwhile, Immanuel Pegarsus broke the first record after winning the intermediate boys 1500 metres with a time of 4 minutes 37 seconds.

The old record was 4 minutes 40 seconds.

Natabua High is currently leading in the boys division with 2 gold while Jasper Williams High School leads the girls division with 1 gold.
