Waisake Naholo scored one of the two winning tries for Taranaki in the extra time as Taranaki defeated Auckland 49-30 in the first Premiership semifinal of the ITM Cup last night.
The scores were locked at 30-all at full time.
In another semifinal, Tasman advanced to the ITM Cup premiership final with a 26-6 win over Canterbury.
Meanwhile, Manawatu rugby team is back in the ITM Cup championship final after beating Southland 23-18 in the second semifinal.
Manawatu will host Hawke's Bay in next Friday's championship final.
Hawke's Bay got a 26-21 win over Northland.
