The Assistant Roko Tui Lau Joeli Nagera has been tasked to handle the dispute over who is the rightful holder of the Tui Kubuca title, after former Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase was installed as the new Chief of Mavana village in December.
The Native Land Commission and Roko Tui Lau's office has confirmed today that the dispute has been referred to the Assistant Roko Tui Lau who is based in Lomaloma, Vanuabalavu after the former Roko Tui Lau, Peni Sokia was transferred to the Naitasiri provincial council office.
Sokia was earlier tasked to resolve the dispute.
Qarase was traditionally installed as Tui Kubuca last year as leader of the Yavusa Qalita and he is chosen from the House of Nadroga, Nukucagina, Qilaqila and Naisogobua before one faction in the village disputed the installation.
