The Nadroga/Navosa Provincial High School under 17 rugby team created history today after beating Ratu Kadavulevu School 8-7 for the first time in the Coke Zero Deans Quarterfinals at the ANZ Stadium.

The side was trailing 7-3 in the second half before scoring a try in the 76th minute and putting up a good defence to create the biggest upset.

Team Manager Epeli Koroi said it is a very big win for them as this is also the first time a school from the Nadroga district has beaten RKS.

Koroi said his under 17 side faced a major problem as they did not have enough players to register for the tournament.

He said but this did not stop his team.


In the other under 17 matches, Nasinu Secondary School beat Sila Centra College 13-3, Marist lost 6-8 to Natabua High School while Lelean Memorial School edged Suva Grammar School 13-3.

Meanwhile, defending Champions of the under 18 grade Queen Victoria School hammered St Johns College 28-10, Ratu Kadavulevu School beat John Wesley College 31-10, Ratu Navula College beat Nasinu Secondary School 26-8 and Assemblies of God High School beat Navuso Methodist High School 22-8.

AOG captain Meli Kolinisau said even though they won, they will need to iron out a lot of issues for the semis.

 
In the under 19, Ba Provincial Freebird Institute beat Ratu Sukuna Memorial School 21-6, Ratu Kadavulevu hammered All Saints 62-8 while Ratu Navula beat Lelean Memorial School 14-12. 
 
In the Under 15, Ratu Navula qualified for the Deans semifinals after thrashing Assemblies of God High School 29-7. 

In the other U15 results, Lautoka Muslim College lost 10-15 to Ratu Kadavulevu School, Suva Grammar School edged Lelean Memorial School 10-5 while Queen Victoria School thrashed Marist Brothers High School 38-12.

In the U16 results Marist beat QVS 9-0, SGS lost 15-19 to Ratu Navula, Lelean Memorial School thrashed Dudley High School 38-3 while RKS beat Savusavu Secondary School 20-3.

The Deans semifinals will take place at Prince Charles Park next Saturday.
