The Nadroga rugby side has suffered a major setback ahead of their Skipper Cup rugby campaign as their partnership with the Outrigger on the Lagoon Resort and Spa will not be renewed for this year.

This has been confirmed to Fijivillage in a statement released by the Nadroga Rugby Union President Tiko Matawalu.

Nadroga has been in partnership with Outrigger on the Lagoon from 2010 until last year and they have given more than $200,000 over the four years.

Last week, Tiko Matawalu told Fijivillage that Nadroga may give up the funding by the Fiji Rugby Union in relation to the Skipper Cup competition because they do not want to lose their own lucrative sponsors.

Matawalu earlier said they have an issue in relation to their sponsors name to be printed on the Skipper Cup competition jerseys as they understand that the spaces on the jerseys have been taken up by the FRU sponsors.

Matawalu said they were willing to give up the FRU funding of $29,000 to continue with their $100,000 sponsorship.

Meanwhile, Nadroga will open their Skipper Cup campaign against Vatukoula on Saturday.
