People living in Nadi are bracing themselves for the high tide which will occur this hour.

A number of residence spent their night sitting on the sofa in their homes waiting for dawn in Vuniyasi Nadi where more than 30 houses are under flood water.

A resident Shaizad Beg said this is one of the worst floods they have experienced.

He said more than 30 homes are under flood water in their area.

Another resident Nasir Ali who has been living in the area for 25 years said this is one of the worst floods he has experienced.

He said ten families are taking shelter at their neighbours house.

In Navokai Nadi people who had built their houses on higher grounds after the 2009 flood are surrounded by flood waters and hoping that the tide this hour will not affect them.

A resident Surila said more than 40 houses in their area is under 6 feet flood water and while a number of them managed to move to higher grounds they are still in their homes hoping that the flood waters will recede.

Meanwhile, in Nabou, landslide has occurred resulting in pine trees falling on the highway blocking two lanes.

Also near Bavu koro, three electric posts have fallen on the main highway.
