Despite Nadi beating Naitasiri 22-15 yesterday in their Digicel Cup match, the side conceded a total of 17 penalties which also included four yellow cards.
Former Flying Fijians coach Ilivasi Tabua said for a local rugby competition, this was just too high.
Tabua said most of the Nadi players failed in their part of understanding the basics of the game.
Nadi's Senitiki Cakau, Maikeli Mudu, Iliesa Takubu and Cyril Reece were shown the yellow card yesterday where the side played the last moments of the game with 13 players.
Meanwhile, looking at other matches played yesterday, Namosi beat Macuata 22-3, Tavua beat Ovalau 20-16, Suva beat Northland 21-10, Nadroga thrashed Vatukoula 24-3 while Lautoka and Tailevu drew 21-all.
