Nadi Police are investigating an incident of the death of a newborn baby.
Police Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri confirmed the incident happened on Thursday when the neighbours discovered the 40 year old woman and the baby in the toilet and rushed the two to the hospital.
Sokomuri said the baby was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Nadi Hospital.
Sokomuri said the woman allegedly denied that she was pregnant when asked by family members and had suffered pain however she refused to go to the hospital.
The woman is still admitted in hospital and police are expected to question her as soon as she recovers.
