The flood warning remains in force for the Nadi River and all low lying areas adjacent to the Nadi River and areas downstream of Votualevu.

This hour, the Nadi Weather Office Director, Alipate Waqaicelua has also issued flood alerts for the Navua River and the Wainibuka River.

High tide is just before 6 tonight and people in the low lying areas in Nadi have been advised to take action.


Waqaicelua said the good news for Nadi is that rain bands will move from Nadi to the Central and Eastern division tonight.

However he said the people in the Central and Eastern division should be prepared for tonight.

 
Restriction of movement in towns in Western division

The Commissioner Western has clarified that there will restriction of movement of people in the towns in the western division.

The restriction will start from 6 this evening to 6 tomorrow morning.

Commission Western, Colonel Joeli Cawaki added that police and military personnel will be monitoring the movement of members of the public.

Cawaki said so far 70 people are at the 5 evacuations centers in Nadi.

He added that the number is expected to increase over-night across the West.


The call from the Commissioner’s office is for those in low lying areas to move into evacuation centers while it is still daylight.

He said schools will remain closed tomorrow.
