Nadi Police have charged a 30 year old man for causing death by dangerous driving.
Police say the 40 year old deceased was walking along the road when he was hit by a vehicle near Nadi Bay on Friday night.
According to police the driver of the vehicle which hit the deceased was involved in an accident in Wailoaloa earlier on, and instead of stopping after the first accident he fled the scene.
When he reached Nadi Bay he lost control of the vehicle and as a result the vehicle went off the road and hit the man.
The 30 year old man is expected to appear in the Nadi Magistrates Court tomorrow morning.
Meanwhile, a total of 9 people are in Police custody who were caught driving under the influence of liquor between Nadi and Lautoka yesterday.
