Nadi Benefit from New Fire Station
Speaking at the ground breaking ceremony in Nadi today, the Interim Local Government Minister, Lekh Ram Vayeshnoi said the development of this project marks an important step for the community and demonstrates the direction that the National Fire Authority is headed to.
He said fire safety is one of the foundations on which healthy and safe communities are built and the Interim Government was working on the various needs of the people.
Vayeshnoi also said the development has been designed to cater for present and future needs of the town - as Nadi grows into a major tourist destination for Fiji.
He added that with the growing population in the greater Nadi area, there may be a need for additional brigade facilities in Namaka and Denarau.
However, he stressed that all stakeholders should partner with NFA to educate and train on first aid firefighting measures while the firefighters make their way to the scene.
