Nadarivatu potatoes for sale
The Agriculture Department in a statement confirmed that potatoes are selling at 90c/kg and members of the public can buy these potatoes from the Lautoka Agriculture Office at Commissioner Western's Building, Tavewa Avenue, Lautoka.
Earlier it was reported that potato imports have drastically increased over the last 20 years as in 1980, only 9,167 tonnes of potatoes valued at $2.63 million were imported.
Fiji imports about 16,000 tonnes of potatoes valued at $17 million each year and attempts are now being made to reduce the importation of potatoes.
The province of Ra officially launched the potato planting season earlier this year, however potato planting for the province of Ra is not a new thing as it was grown way back in the 1970s but the market was not that lucrative.
