Health Ministry has confirmed that the Nacavanadi Nursing station on Gau Island was washed away yesterday following tidal waves that hit Nacavanadi village.

Ministry Spokesperson, Iliesa Tora has also confirmed that staffs and facilities on Lakeba, Vanuabalavu, Moala and Nayau were evacuated because of the risks of the hurricane.

He said Northern Health officials will send out teams today to scope the damage and the costs involved to repair.

Meanwhile, all health facilities in the Central and Western Division will resume normal from 8am today.

Those in the Eastern and Northern Divisions that were not affected by Hurricane Tomas will open as normal.
