Christmas has come early for the 650 residents of Nabukavesi, as they will have safe and clean drinking water in their homes by just turning on their taps.
Initiated by the Rotary Club of Suva East the project was undertaken and funded by the Rotary Pacific Water for Life Foundation at a cost of $132,000.
General Manager Rotary Pacific, Joel Sahai said the people of Nabukavesi have been deprived of clean drinking water for a number of years and this project was undertaken to ensure that people have this basic need.
Sahai said the Foundation has been helping rural communities throughout Fiji.
The Foundation has been engaged with the Partners in Community Development Fiji which conducted workshops in Nabukavesi on water management, sanitation and best practice issues.
