The big winners on the opening day of the OFC Women's Nations Cup 2010 were New Zealand who beat Vanuatu 14-0.

Former Arsenal striker Amber Hearn led the way with a five goal haul as the Football Ferns began their campaign with a highly impressive win over tournament underdogs Vanuatu.

But the Cook Islands also have plenty to celebrate after a historic 1-0 win over Tahiti.

There wasn't so much goal scoring action to enjoy in the afternoon's second game but there was no lack of drama and excitement as Cook Islands posted a narrow win.

Meanwhile, Fiji takes on Papua New Guinea at midday today in its opening match at the North Harbour stadium.
