Defending Hong Kong and IRB Sevens Series champion New Zealand is out to break their losing streak this season in So Kon Po.
Coach Gordon Tietjens had a dream run last year when he won the first 5 tournaments and had a record of 47 unbeaten matches but they have not won any of the previous 4 rounds.
Tietjens said the 30 points which is up for grabs in Happy Valley is important for his side to be back on track in trying to retain their title.
For South Africa, captain Mzwandile Stick said he knows all the 24 teams taking part are eyeing a win as this will boost their chances of winning the IRB Sevens Series.
Stick hopes his return will boost South Africa.
And while Fiji has enjoyed the most wins in Hong Kong, coach Iliesa Tanivula believes all teams have stepped up their preparation after the World Cup Sevens.
Fiji's opening pool game is at 8.52pm tonight against Chinese Taipei.
