As questions continue to be raised on why the New Zealand government has given an exemption to fugitive Ratu Tevita Mara to enter NZ this week, it has now been revealed by the NZ government that it is ready to reward people from the Fiji government who leave the current administration.
NZ Foreign Minister Murray McCully has made their policy clear in an interview with TVNZ.
The NZ government has also made it clear that it sees the Rugby World Cup as an opportunity to ask Fiji to make changes if it wants travel sanctions to be lifted against certain players.
Meanwhile, the Fiji government had earlier said that Australia and New Zealand’s policy towards Fiji has been a failure.
Fiji said the arrival of Ratu Tevita Mara in Australia and the claims of the presence of the Tongan Navy boats within Fiji’s Economic Exclusive Zone demonstrates a concerted effort by Kevin Rudd and McCully to subvert the path towards the holding of truly democratic elections in Fiji.
