NZ expects tough competition
New Zealand's dominant start to the series and South Africa's unexpectedly poor form has seen the two powerhouses drawn together and will square off in the final round of pool play.
It's a schedule that has New Zealand Coach Gordon Tietjens on edge but also relishing the challenge as his team looks to make it three tournament wins in a row.
Tietjens said it's going to be a lot of pressure on them as a host but they will have to adjust to that, and to win the tournament they will have to beat every team that comes across in their way.
New Zealand plays Wales in their opening match at 3:12pm and the mouth-watering match against South Africa will be at 9:56pm.
Meanwhile, rugby fans have been gathering at the Grants Waterhouse to bet on the teams they think will win the NZ International 7s.
Grants Waterhouse Manager, Vijen Kumar said most of the bets received so far are on Fiji.
The New Zealand 7s will start at 1pm today with the opening match between Samoa and France.
Fiji's opening pool match will be against Scotland at 2.28pm then plays Papua New Guinea at 5:24pm with their last match against Australia at 9:34pm.
