The New Zealand Warriors have recorded their first win of the National Rugby League season, beating the Canberra Raiders 18‑6 last night.

Warriors wing Manu Vatuvei continued his strong form against the Raiders by notching up his 13th try against them in six games when he opened the scoring in the 27th minute.

However, Shaun Johnson hurt his wrist in the 22nd minute, and fullback Sam Tomkins twisted his ankle in the second half.

Fiji’s Sisa Waqa scored a try for the Raiders but that was not enough to win them the game.

Looking at the other results over the weekend, the Newcastle Knights beat the Cowboys 16-14, Panthers thrashed the Titans 40-0, Sea Eagles defeated the Melbourne Storm 24-22 while Rabbitohs beat the Roosters 34-26.

The Warriors next match will be against the Broncos this Sunday at 1pm.
