New Zealand Rugby has no plan to remove the All Blacks name from its sevens and Maori teams.

Both teams were given the moniker in 2012 as part of a rebranding strategy, but it hasn't always sat well with some in the New Zealand rugby community and that was intensified after the Kiwi men's quarterfinal exit at the Rio Olympics.

Some suggested the result would cause damage to the history of success and quality associated with the All Blacks brand.

However, New zealand Rugby Chief Executive Steve Tew disputed those claims and confirmed to Radio Sport the teams would retain the name because of the financial benefits it offered.
