NZ High Comm remains closed in Suva
This is evident when people visit the Immigration Office in downtown Suva and when calls are made to the Commission.
According to an earlier press statement released, NZ Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCully confirms it will remain closed while they assess its capability to continue to carry out its main functions.
McCully said New Zealanders travelling to Fiji should now be aware that the level of assistance the High Commission can provide to New Zealand citizens may be affected due to the depleted staff numbers.
NZ Immigration Service officials earlier confirmed that Fiji citizens wishing to apply for a visa to visit New Zealand will have to either post their applications by mail or courier and all visa forms can be obtained from their website or mailed to you upon request.
The Officials said the processing of visas is ongoing as usual and they are not aware how long the New Zealand Immigration services will be closed to the public.
This is in light of the New Zealand Deputy Head of Mission, Todd Cleaver being expelled from Fiji yesterday by Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama.
Meanwhile, the Australian High Commission in Fiji continues to operate as normal.
