The New Zealand 7s team will look to bounce-back from their semifinal loss to Samoa in Wellington last weekend, as the IRB World Sevens Series turns its attention to Las Vegas.

Victories in Dubai and George put New Zealand in a strong position going into their home tournament in Wellington, where the hosts were humbled by Samoa 24-14 in their semifinal.

New Zealand 7s coach Gordon Tietjens retained the same 12-man squad for the USA 7s, and won't want to return empty handed in consecutive tournaments.

Tietjens said in Las Vegas, his players will have to take a more physical approach and during training he is putting more concentration on the defence.

Tietjens believes his side can overcome all the odds this weekend and get back to its winning ways.

New Zealand is drawn in Pool A with France, Australia and new comers Guyana.

Barring any upset New Zealand is likely to face either Fiji or South Africa in the quarterfinals.

The USA 7s starts on Sunday with the opening match between New Zealand and France at 8am.
