All Blacks 7's coach, Sir Gordon Tietjens said he is shocked to find out that they have been drawn against Fiji, Samoa and Wales in pool play for this weekend's Las Vegas tournament.
He said one can feel confident, but Sevens is a pretty fickle game sometimes.
Tietjens said Fiji will want to get back.
Tietjens has named Scott Curry as the stand‑in captain for New Zealand as DJ Forbes has been ruled out.
Meanwhile, Vodafone Fiji 7's coach, Ben Ryan said there is nothing to worry about in relation to the team’s discipline as they head into the Las Vegas 7s this weekend.
Ryan said while people are talking about the team’s discipline, he believes the penalty count was not high and the citing in the New Zealand 7's was unfortunate.
Captain, Osea Kolinisau and Semi Kunatani were ruled out of their quarterfinal clash with England in the New Zealand 7s after the two were suspended for illegal tackles during the pool stages.
In the Cup quarter-final match against England, Jasa Veremalua was shown the yellow card in the early stages of the game.
Looking at the Las Vegas 7's, Fiji will face Samoa at 1.06pm and Wales at 4.02pm on Saturday.
They will then clash with rivals New Zealand at 9.05am Sunday.
The Cup quarter finals will be at 1.14pm Sunday.
The Cup semis will kick off at 8.32am Monday while the final of the Las Vegas 7s will start at 11.25am Monday.
