NRU willing to give up funding by FRU
Nadroga President Tiko Matawalu said last year's provincial cup funding was $22,000 but this year it has increased to $29,000.
However Nadroga's total sponsorship for a year is around $100,000.
Matawalu said they have an issue in relation to their sponsors name to be printed on the Skipper Cup competition jerseys as they understand that the spaces on the jerseys have been taken up by the FRU sponsors.
Matawalu said they are willing to give up the FRU funding of $29,000 to continue with their $100,000 sponsorship.
The former national rep says they may put forward a proposal to the FRU in relation to this issue because they cannot afford to lose their $100,000 sponsorship.
Meanwhile, round one of the Skipper Cup is supposed to start this week but due to the late arrival of jerseys from the manufacturers the competition will kick off next Saturday.
