Navosa High School student Eroni Tuwai’s hard work has finally paid off as he has been selected with two other young talents for trials in the NRL.
Tuwai was picked by rugby league legends Andrew Johns and Brad Fittler who were in the country to attend Eto Nabuli’s wedding at Malomalo Village in Nadroga.
Tuwai walked two hours from his village to catch a bus and then it took him another two hours to travel down from the highlands to find the rugby league legends.
His skills and built impressed Johns who said the youngster’s aggression could walk him into any Holden Cup side and absolutely outclass the players who are already there.
Currently on their third scouting mission in Fiji funded from their own bank accounts because the NRL refuses to back it, the pair has hand-picked three youngsters for the NRL trials in Australia.
