The Native Land Trust Board has now set a clear recruitment policy that the selection process for employees of NLTB should be based on merit.
NLTB General Manager Alipate Qetaki said the Board of the NLTB has decided in it=s meeting to have a policy on recruitment as there are perceptions that NLTB only employs the i-Taukei.
Qetaki confirms that at the moment, out of the 202 positions in NLTB, there is only one non i-Taukei.
He said they now want to ensure that the best person is hired and there should be no other set criteria.
Qetaki said he is not sure whether a policy was set up over the past years that only i-Taukei should be recruited to work at NLTB.
The policy was approved by the board in it=s meeting last Thursday.
