The Native Land Trust Board is now embarking on trying to get landowners to put pen to paper to formalize the renewal of an estimated 1300 land leases due to expire by 2010.
After months of consultations and discussions with landowners around the country with the Committee on Better Utilization of Land, the NLTB must now acquire the landowner’s signatures on the renewal agreements.

He added that they are just short of their intended target.
The Committee on Better Utilization of Land had revealed earlier that they were to facilitate the renewal of 3,618 ALTA cane leases and of this total 2,252 leases had expired between 1997 and 2007 and they have been able to discuss the renewal of over 1300 leases with the landowners.
