The Native Land Trust Board is worried that only about $1 million has been paid from land tenants, who owed $14 million in land lease arrears for this year.
General Manager Semi Tabakanalagi said that tenants should understand that while they enjoy the income from the land, the landowners will also want some return.
Tabakanalagi added that while the land lease arrears now stand at $13.2 million, the figure is expected to increase when this year comes to an end.
