The NGO, FRIENDS for Fiji is providing a Community Re-Entry program for the prisoners prior to their release.
Programme Manager, Nai Cokanasiga said that one of the unique aspects of the program is that it works closely with the prison system and communities to reduce barriers and prepare them to welcome home the ex-offenders with minimum prejudice and discrimination.
They also provide income generating opportunities for sustainable livelihood.
She also added that their programme has been a success as some of them are employed and are making a living for themselves.
