A Non Government Organization has come up with a Food Security Program to encourage every family in the country to have a home garden during these hard times.
The program Coordinator for FRIENDS, Sandhya Narayan said they want communities to also consider commercial cash crop farming to help in import substitution.
Narayan said after a survey, Friends identified some issues about food security out of which environment conservation and health were major areas affecting the rural and poor communities.
People from Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, Tavua, Rakiraki, Seaqaqa and Labasa underwent a training session this week to learn more about food security.
