More than 300 students had smiles on their faces after a non government organization, Poor Relief Society provided assistance for their education.

Society President, Sabita Gandhi said these students who were assisted mostly come from farming background whose parents are facing difficulties.

She said some of the students who applied for assistance come from poor background and either one of their parents have passed away, only one is employed, parents have more children to educate or some have to look after extended family.

Gandhi said a total of 35 schools including a tertiary institute student was assisted and more than $17,000 was paid out for either their library fee, sports fee, building and maintenance fee, book fee, vocational training fee, and computer courses.
