The Fiji Young Women's Christian Association has expressed disappointment and frustration over the military's decision to ban a member of its delegation from travelling overseas.

YMCA's Vice President Luse Tamani claims that Tupou Vere who is a board member was to attend the four yearly World Young Women's Council Meeting in Nairobi from today till 11th and many other important meetings, however, she was banned from travelling.

Tamani said they were told by the military to give a full detail of Vere's itinery, whether she will return to Fiji and if she wanted to appeal against the army's decision for any future travels.

According to Tamani, the ban has thwarted efforts of Pacific Island womens to convey experiences in the Pacific region in a global forum of women and is an attempt to weaken the resole and efforts of women in the country who are advocating an early return to parliamentary democracy.

The military is expected to comment on the matter today.
