Save the Children Fiji has raised concern at the number of child abuse cases highlighted in the media and are calling on strengthening the support system for children.
Child Protection Unit Manager Lynette Petueli said they are asking the communities to work together and report cases of child abuse.
Save the Children is now calling on the government to end all forms of violence against children and a Children’s Rights Commissioner should be appointed who has the powers to investigate individual cases.
In recent days, there are a number of cases of abuse where children have been allegedly raped and a 3 year old child of Savusavu was allegedly pushed into a pot of boiling rice, which resulted in his death.
