The National Fire Authority is expected to take over all ambulance services as early as January next year.
Health Ministry Spokesman Illiesa Tora said they have had talks with the NFA Officials and are planning to start operations soon.
Tora adds that as part of the outsourcing, updating of the Ambulance fleet around the country will take place.
Cabinet had given their approval last week for the outsourcing of the emergency Ambulance Services after Health Minister Doctor Neil Sharma revealed that as a results of high maintenance costs, the service of standard provided by the Saint John’s Ambulance and other transport operator was below standard.
