The National Fire Authority said they are still in the process of finalising the details of the final handing over of the outsourcing of the Emergency Ambulance Services.

Manager Corporate Affairs Mileta Ting said at the moment they have not taken over the operations of Health Ministry Ambulance Service, through the Saint Johns Brigade and other Transport organisations, and will only take over after the final legislation has been put in place which at the moment is still being drafted.

Cabinet had approved the outsourcing of the Ambulance Services to the National Fire Authority, after recommendations made by the Health Minister after a survey done in 2008 revealed that the management of the service, high cost of maintenance and replacement, along with inefficiency of Saint Johns Ambulance has resulted in a below standard of ambulance service in the country.

There are currently 15 fire stations around the country.
