The National Fire Authority has started its investigations into the cause of the fire which partly destroyed the Lautoka Muslim Primary School this morning.

Divisional Fire Officer Western Isoa Makutu said the forensic officers are at the scene conducting the investigations.

According to Makutu, initial investigations revealed that the fire started from the Urdu room.

The National Fire Authority revealed this morning that there was no water supply in the Central Business District Area and they had to cart water from a nearby area which was about one and a half kilometres away from the scene.

The Authority requested the PWD to open water supply, however by the time this was done, it was too late for the wooden structure.

Meanwhile, the management of Lautoka Muslim Primary School is trying to build a shed in the school compound for students to study after about 15 classrooms were razed in an early morning fire this morning.

School Manager Joseph Ali said they are trying to arrange for furniture and other stationery before students are called back to resume classes.
