The National Fire Authority has raised concern on the number of grass fire incidents in the Western and Northern Division.

Acting Chief Fire Officer, Tupou Saubulinayau said for the past few months there has been an increase in grass fire incidents in the Western and Northern parts of the country and has urged people to take precaution when burning rubbish or large grass land.

Saubulinayau also said that grass fires can spread quickly in the windy weather which could be disastrous.

He has also encouraged farmers to take advice from their local fire stations before deciding to burn rubbish or grassland.
