The National Fire Authority's emergency rescue team and swift water rescue team have been dispatched in the Northen, Western and Central divisions to rescue people in need.

NFA's Acting Chief Fire Officer Tupou Saubulinayau said that all the NFA officers are on standby around Fiji.

He said the fire crew and swift water rescue officers who underwent training in flood water rescue will be working during the course of their rescue operations.

Saubulinayau is calling on people to stay indoors mainly in the strongest part of the building, stay in the kitchen while cooking as strong winds can cause fire to spread quickly, prepare an emergency kit, keep emergency phone numbers on display, listen to the radio continuously and disconnect all electrical appliances.
