Quick response by the National Fire Authority and Police averted a major fire at Manohan building last night in four miles Nasinu.
A security officer saw smoke coming out of the building at around 8pm yesterday and quickly alerted the fire authority and Police.
NFA said the fire started in a restaurant which is situated inside the building.
NFA CEO John O'Connor said this was a big test for his officers as the fire could have spread in other parts of the building within few seconds.
Investigations are expected to be carried out today to determine the cause of fire.
