The National Fire Authority is calling on all members of the public to exercise extra caution tonight as the celebration for Diwali gets underway.
Chief Fire Officer Mark Reid said for parents to be mindful of diyas and candles.
Meanwhile, the Fiji Teachers Union said that Diwali carries a lot of meaning and General Secretary Agni Deo Singh said as the meeting was conducted a day before Diwali, he is hoping that the leaders will put their differences aside and work together in bringing back democracy in the country.
