National Fire Authority will be launching its first ever National Fire Safety Week today and the theme is "Keep Your Home Fire Safe. It's Your Job".

Chief Executive Officer Joseva Gavidi said national fire safety week provides an opportunity to remind people of the dangers of fire and to reinforce the importance of being fire safe day in day out.

Gavidi added that every home should have working smoke alarms, a fire extinguisher or fire blanket and a fire escape plan that is practiced regularly.

NFA plans to hold this event annually where all its fire safety awareness campaigns throughout the year at all fire districts culminate into a nationwide awareness campaign.

The fire safety weekends on 5th October and NFA has urged people to get in touch with their nearest fire station and to learn the fire safety messages that will be promoted in the week.
