The Acting Prime Minister Ratu Epeli Nailatikau today indicated that he has received formal communication from the President Ratu Josefa Iloilo confirming approval of the urgent call by the National Council for Building a Better Fiji to convene a forum.

In a special meeting held on April 15, the NCBBF had passed the following resolution for all key stakeholders including all the political parties, to discuss the steps needed to reform Fiji's electoral system to conform, inter alia, with the principles enunciated with the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The Acting PM said that action will now be taken, as necessary and appropriate, to convene the proposed forum as soon as possible.

It is anticipated that the forum, including the political dialogue associated with it, will be facilitated under a multilateral framework, possibly with the involvement of Fiji's development partners.
