The National Council for Building a Better Fiji has condemned the "illegal" leakage of information on the Technical and Support Secretariat's staff salaries and budget to the media.

Members of the NCBBF media committee, Kamlesh Arya, Peni Moore, Desmond Whiteside and Lorine Tevi questioned the media on when they will begin to take genuine interest in the vital issues affecting the future of Fiji which the People's Charter is seeking to address.

The committee also raised concerns why journalists get paid for asking the same questions about NCBBF's budget over and over again while ignoring the comparison between the relatively small Technical Support Secretariat's budget and the huge losses to Fiji resulting from poor governance and corruption over the last 20 years.

The media committee said that the NCBBF as the employer is fully responsible and accountable to the President for the execution of his mandate and as such has every right to hire the right people to ensure the mandate is achieved within the allocated resources and timeframe.
