Fiji's leading rapper Sammy G believes that music is giving youths an avenue to let their anger and frustration out without turning to crime.
Sammy G said the music industry in Fiji is opened up for all youths despite their cultural and family identity.
Speaking to Fijivillage, Sammy G said when he was in secondary school trying to make a name in the music arena in the country, it was hard as his father was one of the church leaders and therefore rapping was a big challenge.
He added that there were times when he was chased off stage, had beer bottles thrown at him and even assaulted but this hasn't stopped him and he has successfully released three songs which have made big hits.
This is after the local artist noticed that many youths in his area were turning to stealing and hanging out in peer groups where they are influenced into doing criminal activities.
Some songs he has released are House Party, Suva City and recently 6,7,Ciwa, all based on life in Fiji.
