The sanity of a 48-year-old Saint Giles patient charged with the murder of her 60-year-old sister became an issue in court today.

A St. Giles doctor said that Ateca Naitukula of Sawani cannot fully participate in any court proceedings because of her mental illness. He recommended she be committed to hospital for a very long time.

Magistrate Katonivualiku said he could not discharge Naitukula because the authorization for discharge has to come from the President.

The court adjourned to the end of next month when a response is expected from the President's office. Naitukula allegedly killed Loata Kulanisiga on the 29th of December after a heated argument.
