The 31-year-old wife of the 63-year-old German National, whose body was found inside his house in Sigatoka, is still admitted in a critical condition at the Lautoka hospital.

Police Spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri confirmed the wife stabbed herself five times with a kitchen knife after the discovery of the partially decomposed body of her husband.

According to Sokomuri, the wife remains in the trauma ward and will be questioned once she fully recovers.

Sokomuri said they are treating the case as murder as a team of Police Officers have already questioned some people in relation to the case and more questioning is expected today.

The post mortem of the deceased is expected to be carried out later today.

Police said the man was not seen since early last month and when asked about the man's whereabouts the wife only said that he had gone back to Germany to visit family.

On Sunday the woman's family went to visit her where they got suspicious over the foul smell coming from the main house, which was locked.

The woman is alleged to have resisted when her family members asked to check the reason for the foul smell but yesterday the family managed to open the door to the main house where they discovered the body.
