Municipal councils around the country are expected to undergo major reforms to increase the level of transparency and accountability and improve the services provided to ratepayers and members.
Minister for Labour and Local Government Lekh Ram Vayeshnoi said the reforms have been long overdue. He said people deserve to get the best in a transparent manner.
He said all municipal councils should be held accountable for their decisions and to this his Ministry is closely monitoring all aspects of operations in all the councils to ensure better services and transparency is provided.
