A major multi-million dollar project in the heart of Suva is on hold following changes in the Fiji National Provident Fund board.

Deputy Suva Mayor, Josefa Gavidi confirmed that an agreement had been signed between the Suva City Council and the FNPF board which would have seen a five-star hotel and shopping malls built near the Suva Bowling Club.

Gavidi said the SCC was to reclaim 15 acres of land near the Bowling Club for FNPF. He said even though FNPF paid a deposit of $3.9 million to the council, the change in the FNPF board has led to the project being put on hold.
